Splenda Zero Review for Crowdtap

WIN_20160728_19_42_33_Pro (2)

I received Splenda Zero for free to review through Crowdtap.  It has zero carbs, zero sugar, and zero calorie.

It says use one squeeze for the sweetness of 1 tsp of sugar.  I am not sure that was accurate.  I used 3 squeezes in my video, I do believe.

I put the Splenda in organic peach tea.  I usually use a little bit of raw sugar in this at night, before I go to bed.  What I noticed about the Splenda is that I did not detect the after taste of it, it just enhanced the flavor of my tea.

Would I recommend this to friends?  Only if they use artificial sweeteners already.  I would not want anyone who does not to start.  The ingredients are: water, sucralose, malic acid, sodium benzonate, and potassum sorbate.  Is it healthy although it has no sugar, carbs, or calories?  No.

I do have to say, it is still the best artificial sweetener I have tried.

We are still selling tee shirts if you want to grab one.

I was Once a Yeller

Boogs and I, “yelling”

Parenting is hard.  It is no cliche, it is the hardest job there is.  No child is going to comply completely to every demand, and often there lies the battle you begin to lose.  I was a yeller back when all of my kids lived in my home.  This past year has proved to be a year of growth for all of us, and with that came the realization, on my part, that I had to stop.

In this past year, with all of the things we have dealt with, my own pain issues and their Autism, we have not had one single argument between my kids.  We have not had a single true meltdown in my home.  This is amazing, considering I have twin boys who share a room.  Yet, I still found myself at times occasionally yelling at these little people for little things.

My kids are not perfect.  I often get an eye roll or a smart remark when I ask for the unloading of a dishwasher.  I would think that is to be expected.  They are almost teenagers, and this is really my largest battle.  I never have a discipline issue.  Yet, I found myself yelling out of frustration.

This past year was a hard year.  I got phone calls Matthew was banging his head on his desk in class and laughing uncontrollably because he could not keep up in class.  He was bored and over stimulated.  Samuel was skipping class altogether, curled up on the floor of a bathroom stall.  So, I got a little attitude about a dish washer.  My kids are good kids.  We do not have this behavior at home.  Ever.

Matt and Liz

I am pretty sure it was the phone call from the school with a stressed out teacher telling me she was at the end of her rope with my son banging his head in her class that kind of told me we had to make changes, now.  I really wish it had not come to that point, but it did.  I had no idea this was going on until I got that call.  Their entire life is stressful.  I was just adding on to it.  My boys were honestly unhappy.

In so many ways, my family has grown so much.  We went from kids who rocked and screamed to kids who destroyed walls and doors in our home.  They broke lamps and ran purposefully into walls.  We had overcome all of that, and I seemed to have forgotten and I was yelling things like, “Don’t roll your eyes at me, just do the dishes.”  In the grand scheme of things, this is really silly.  I hate unloading the dishwasher, too.

So, we do this new thing now.  I get a hug when everyone gets up, I get random hugs during the day, and I get hugs at night.  The difference is, I no longer ask for one.  We all just do it.  When Lizzie gets up in the morning, (or the afternoon, it is summer time) the first thing I say is, “Goodmorning, sweetie.”  I usually get an eye roll.  I say, “Hey, buddy, how was your night,” first thing to the boys, and I get a hug.  I am not even sure how we used to greet each other.   It may have always been that way, I just notice it more now.

Me and Sam

Kids have a lot of stress.  Especially kids who cannot keep up.  Even more so for kids who are aware they cannot keep up.  Home should not be a place that adds to that stress.   There should not be a battle for control.

My kids still unload the dishwasher and take out the trash.  I am sure they still roll their eyes.  We also added some laundry duties to the chore list.  The funny thing is that now, I get asked if I need help when I am cleaning.  They are also a huge help in cooking and baking.  The blogs where they have recipes they made up, they really asked to do it, and it really was their idea.  We do all of these things as a family now.   And I am no longer a yeller.

Don’t forget to pick up a tee shirt!  I designed it myself.

A Tornado in a Jar

I know I already did a blog on sensory jars, but these are a little bit different.  This is a tornado in a jar.  It was a pretty cool project, and since school is coming up, it would also be a good experiment to try out for the school year.  The only real issue in it is the amount of bubbles from the dish soap.

My HTC does not take good pictures, but we did do a video on this project, and they did work.

The things you will need:

  • A jar with a lid
  • water
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp dish soap
  • Glitter
  • Food coloring

You fill the jars 3/4 of the way with water.  Add the vinegar and dish soap.  Add some glitter and food coloring, if you want it, and then shake the jar.  There will be a little tornado.

It is a simple, fun project.  Sam even made one for Lizzie with me after we finished.  They had so much fun.

Don’t forget to grab a tee!

The Fam Tries Nutchello

Last week, we received a coupon from Crowdtap for free Nutchello by Silk for reviewing purposes only.  They asked me to do a blog on our opinion.  We also have a video review up.

The thing about Nutchello is that it is nowhere as thick as milk.  So, if you are looking for that, you will not find it in Nutchello.  The flavor is very smooth.  It does taste more nutty than chocolate.  The funny thing is, while Matt, Sam, and I were saying whether or not we liked it, Lizzy was downing it in front of the camera.

The flavor we tried was rich dark chocolate walnuts.  Yes, you can taste both of these distinctly.  It is a great combination of flavors.  There are so many things about the fact that my kids love this stuff that are exciting.  First of all, it is 70 calories and 9 grams of sugar.  You can’t tell, it is not lacking in taste.

I regret to say, since I had a coupon to get the product for free, I did not catch the price.  What I do know is it is not carried in Walmart in my town.  Super 1 Foods does carry it.

In my family, two of us have issues with milk and have already made the switch to Silk and similar products for our cereal and other needs.  We use the almond milk.   I got coconut almond accidentally the other day and the taste is a bit strong for all of us.  It is a little more costly than milk, but it also expires more slowly.

All in all, we really liked the product.  We just have to remind ourselves to pour a glass and take a break.

LOC Lip Pencil and Mercelle Mascara Review

Not too long ago, I received my Birch Box with my 5 products.  I really wanted to review a couple of these products that I will actually use.  Those products are Marcelle Curling and Lengthening Mascara and LOC Punchline Ultragloss Lip Pencil.  I already tried the products in an unboxing video and blog, but I wanted to make sure to do a demonstration blog, as well.

Before I tried the lip liner and mascara, I used ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer and Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Stay In Place Make-Up.  The foundation is by far the only brand I have found in my shade.

After I applied the primer and foundation, I applied LOC Punch Line liner.

As you can see, it is not dark or super shiny gloss.  I have worn it before and it stays on pretty well.  It is a very complimentary color for someone with a similar skin tone to myself.

Next, I tried the Marcelle mascara.  I have long been a great lash girl.  I have found a few other products I thought were as good, but I have never found a mascara like Marcelle.

With Marcelle, there is length and volume.  There is no clumping.  It does not flake or leave residue.  This is one of the best mascaras I have come across.

I would probably not go out like this, but this is how much those two products work with my complexion and the light color of my skin and lashes.  I think I will definitely continue to use the Marcelle mascara after the sample is gone, and I will see how much I like the lip liner after a few more uses.  Both are amazing products.

Angel Food Cake With Pineapple: 2 Ingredients

Sam and I got another 2 ingredient recipe and decided we should try it.

All it takes is a can of pineapple and a box of angel food cake mix.  Make sure to preheat the oven to 350.

Do not drain the 20 ounce can of pineapple.  Mix it with the cake mix.  It will be a little frothy, or fluffy.

The only issue that we had was that it made so much.

We baked it for about 20 minutes which was just a few minutes too long, but I must say, this is an excellent simple recipe.  The whole family approved.  The cupcakes turned out just as good as the cakes.

Walmart Beauty Box

I got really excited opening the Walmart Beauty Box.  I always get excited opening boxes.  Once again, though, I felt a little let down with the fact that everything I received was just a sample.  I am so into full size products.  This is a promotion that Walmart only does 4 times a year, and it is something that I think the regular price is $10.00.  If you like samples, you should try it.

The first sample I received is Tom’s Rapid Relief Sensitive toothpaste.  The cool thing about this is that it is flouride-free.  That is a good thing.

Product number 2 is Swisspers blotting paper.  There are 100.  It says oil absorbing sheets remove shine, not makeup.  We shall see.

Next was Simple micellar cleansing water.  It claims to remove make-up, hydrate, and unclog pores.

I also received Pantene airspray, an alcohol free spray.

I despise all samples like this.  Age perfect golden serum.

Jergens Natural Glow also came.

Another one I do not like receiving due to the packaging.  Revitalift volume filler.

Burt’s Bees naturally nourishing milk and honey body lotion was a great surprise to unbox.

I also got some Caress mystique fever.  It smells so good.

And last, but not least, a sample of Nivea in shower body lotion, just like the one I got free in the junk mail.

I love some of these samples, but I would not pay to get them.  They could have done better than this.  I will review a few on the products very soon.  Thanks for stopping by.

We have a teeshirt campaign going if you would like to order one.  Thank you.

I do not thing much makes my day more than a good unboxing.  That is why I signed up for Birchbox.  The fee is $10.00 a month, or $110 per year.  I know I expect a little too much, but I was seriously hoping to get more than samples in my box.  Over all, though, I am pretty happy with it.

So, What came in my Birchbox?

Well, quite a few things came inside the box.

Marcelle Extension Plus Curl came in my box.  It seems to be black, which I love in a mascara.  I will be doing a testing blog with all the products I received very soon, so keep an eye out for how I like this product.

Face Coola makeup setting spray in green tea and aloe were also in the box.  It is SPF 30 and organic.  I have never used this type of product, so I am dying to know what it does.

The next product was LOC punchline ultra gloss lip pencil.  This is a product I am loving, and I will do a demo for that soon, as well.

Sample number 4 is Dr. Brandt’s Pore Dermabrasion.  It is a pore perfecting exfoliator.  It says it helps refine the appearance of pores, deep cleans pores, and helps smooth the appearance of skin texture.  We shall see.

The last product bummed me out because it came open.  It totally was an overpowering scent and it did give me a headache.

As far as how I feel about this box, I feel it is not worth $10 dollars a month.  But that is just my opinion.  I look forward to reviewing these products for you.  Keep on smilin.
